Mateo Cerri
tinkerer.
I take things apart to see what else they could become. I touch a bit of everything, from build caches in Rust to vision models to file formats I had no business decoding by hand, and I prefer showing commits over collecting labels.
Advanced Computer Engineering student at UNRaf, working from Rafaela, Argentina. I take on selected freelance work. Remote, async-friendly; details on the contact page.
Now
what occupies the bench
Most days go to my final project: automatic visual inspection for metal parts, training on a public benchmark and validating against real rejected pieces, running on CPU with a local panel. In the margins, a private Rust project around AI-assisted game creation (more when it is public) and the small utilities below.
Work
things built, each with its receipts
- oct 2026Tools that show their work
Coding agents that edit through opaque shell writes are unauditable, so I gave mine visible tools: anchor-based atomic edits and a registry of reusable scripts. One call renamed a type across 70 files. Same family: a trace pruner and a WSL toolchain shim.
- sep 2026A daemon that records streams once
hlsd records HLS sources so that every segment is fetched exactly once and shared between overlapping recordings, assembling MP4 on demand. It complements yt-dlp where no extractor exists.
- 2026 – nowA wholesale store I still run
A custom e-commerce platform for a wholesaler, Beccaria Mayorista: storefront, admin tools, order flows. I designed and deployed it, and I still maintain it .
- dec 2023A signal bench for a microcontroller
SerialPlotter trades samples with a microcontroller over a serial port, plots them live, runs an FFT to show the harmonics, filters the signal and sends it back.
- jan 2023An interpreter for an esoteric language
A GolfScript interpreter in C#, written as a challenge with folks from Stack Overflow, back when AI assistance was more trouble than help. Unit tests included.

- 2026-10-13The binary follows the data
My agent lives between Windows and Linux, where every command must pick the right version of the same tool. A small shim answers that question once, so nothing trips at the boundary.
Two small OpenCode plugins, a script registry and anchor-based edits, and the 70-file rename that proved them.
- 2026-10-12The bug was a missing .exe
I went upstream to kache with an RFC and a fix. Both landed through the maintainer, under his name. That still counts.
Experiments
an ongoing habit
I like finding out how things work: sitting with a spec until bytes become pixels, wiring a sensor just to watch it report back. Most of these never shipped and several stalled halfway, done the hard way with barely any autocomplete. The understanding was the point, not the release. The habit stuck.
